Short-eared Owl

Short-eared Owl

As dusk approached and the sun began to set I saw this Short-eared Owl hunting over marsland and reeds. Here he flew past where I was hiding with a vole he'd caught , hope you like him.

Swan In Dawn Light

Swan In Dawn Light

This image captures the spirit of this beautiful Mute Swan in the first rays of light. It will form part of one of the short films I am doing for Photo Training4U www.phototraining4u.com/. Elegance, Regal and confident pose captured here, for me encapsulating the true character of these swans that live among us on lakes, rivers and ponds. She was floating effortless here, I had hardly any shutter speed but this is where a tripod comes into its own in poor light. Females have a smaller, thinner neck and are not as large as the males. In this case he was just out of shot and keeping an eye on me as they are amazedly protective of each other which is nice and very enduring to see. This film along with others will be released next year showing the way in which I work within my wildlife photography. In the meantime I hope you enjoy this very simple yet beautiful image of a beautiful bird floating in the first rays of light and have a very Merry Christmas everyone :0)

Hello

Hello

Photograph showing the cheeky and private/shy nature of these Red Squirrels from today. They come down from the tree tops in a flash, grab a little of the food that’s placed out for them by the wildlife trust, which is only there to help these mammals survive as their numbers throughout the UK are very low. I always try to capture some of the subject’s character within my photographs and here I feel I’ve achieved that. Very shy, very nervy and wary of man, he he’s just checking out what’s happening from the safety of this pine tree. Funny and very comical animals and a joy to work with and photograph as I smiled and laughed at some of the antics they get up to lol. Hope you like him

Watching The River

Watching The River

A female Kingfisher I got really close to over several months. I placed my hide next to these reed maces, hoping to capture some nice shots of the Kingfishers on them. Here is one. The search for a new place/pair still goes on as she was killed by mink or the cold weather early this year, they are such wonderful looking birds. Here I captured her looking up the river and the background was green vegetation, shot from my hide
