'Evolution' car dissed by Red StatesHome of the American car, so obviously a lot of "buy America" types in this state. Really low. Maybe the Evolution is terrible in snow. This is a Mitsubishi ad slogan. I'm not making this up. Really. ![]() The quote is from the official marketing web site. There are no plans to release a "Lancer Creation" version, as far as I know. Las Vegas is probably driving the odd sales data for Nevada (it was a filming location for the Evolution-featurin' flick, "Too Fast Too Furious", I think UPDATE: I'm wrong about this). Not sure what is up for Maine. I probably need to rerun the statistics using "18-44 males" to get a more accurate estimate of the underlying car-buying population that favors Rally and NASCAR models. And, to be fair, I should include a control car (e.g., Galant) from Mitsubishi, just in case the red states have a tendency of "buying American", which probably plays a part in these data. Income level is also negatively correlated with voting for Bush, so the above data are also explainable by Evolutions being too expensive for many in Red states.

CommentsBrian1625 says:Yeah, whether or not it's American plays a
major role in red states. Along with the
Galant, maybe try the Eclipse. And consider
the Honda Civic, because it's in the same
size and sells very well. As well as Evo's
arch enemy the Subaru WRX STi [but then you
have to factor in dealership locations]

distances are probably further. They want
something that will be comfortable on longer
drives. Colin Purrington
