I have to agree. I scare away the dragonflies before I can get a much of a picture. This one is so close the hexagonal shapes on the compound eyes are clearly visible.

Was an extension tube used?

Mike, I used a Canon 60mm macro lens on a Canon 30D. No extension tube. That's the entire image, no post-process cropping. I have no idea why bugs and insects allow me to get so close to them. I like to think it's because they can sense how much I adore them. Kooky but true :-)
