      Thanks! I took that with my little pocket camera, a Canon Powershot SD700 IS. I figured out that the macro setting works while it's in Portrait mode. The Portrait mode locks the aperture at its widest, giving the least depth of field, thus the soft focus background. The Landscape mode does the opposite. Those are the only two ways to 'control' the aperture settings on that particular camera.
