Wreck of the George L. Olson![]() ![]() This ship wreck was found off the shores of Coos Bay Oregon recently. It had been buried with sand and with the high tides the last couple of years, it had washed most of the sand away to uncover this piece of Oregon history. It was quite a site to see it. It has peaked much interest and large crowds have come to see it from all over the state as well as other states. They don't know for sure the exact name of this ship but they are narrowing it down. The experts have looked at many historical photos and articles of shipwrecks in the area and they think it may be the C. A. Smith. This ship was made of wood and as you can see from the close ups it is well scared from the buffetings of the oceans elements. The C.A. Smith was built in the early 1900's.
I recently found out that this ships real name is the George L. Olson, after much research the experts found the name to the mistery ship. This was a steam powered schooner that was launched in 1917 and wrecked in 1944. CommentsStarlightworld
