The rehearsal

It was the first time I heard this work. It's based on a poem by Alfred Tennyson, who in turn based it on a true story. Thanks to Knut for pointing out that the story itself is a variation on the myth of Ulysses' return.

There's even a law inspired by Enoch Arden in the US - it stipulates that one may be granted a divorce if one's spouse has been missing for more than 7 years.
