Are large earthquakes and the Moon's distance linked?

Are large earthquakes and the Moon's distance linked?

Looking at the 24 largest earthquakes; all of them occur within 7 days of apsis. The average number of days from an earthquake is 4.417 and 5 of them occur within 24 hours. The moon is at an average distance of 383254km during these events which is 1144km from the Moon's semi-major axis.

Unless all significant earthquakes were happening on apogee or perigee linking the Moon to earthquakes seems pretty far fetched. Also consider the moon moves in this way all the time, more than 24 times in a year, there are bound to be earthquakes at points near these times purely because there are earthquakes all the time.

connections not likely indeed...
