      I wonder how well it will stand up to every day use though... I have heard from long-time taxi drivers that the newer front-wheel-drive cars they use now don't take the abuse as well.

      Apparently, the original hybrid cab in Vancouver lasted 200k miles in 25 months before Toyota asked for it back to study. Sounds durable to me! The cab driver is on his 3rd Prius now.

      my front wheel drive corolla has lasted fabulously for the last 12 years 160,000 miles. this includes a lot of torment on dirt roads. I didn't have to get brakes til 135,000 miles. I just got a prius to replace it.
