K-mount lens to EOS mount adapter

Here's the K-mount lens to EOS mount adapter I got today, with the help of Kent. I took a few test shots with it. The whole thing is blogged here.

Yep! I've enjoyed these lenses on my K1000; nice to have another option with them.

You've got all kinds of nice manual prime lens options with your Sony DSLR, from Minolta. No adapter required. I think the worst thing Sony did with their SLR business was to completely wipe out the Minolta name (and heritage). They'd probably get a lot more respect, and success, if they had kept it.

(Oh, well... The things Sony has done wrong since the end of the dominance of the Discman would fill a couple of MBA textbooks...)

The one issue I have with Minolta is they made their AF mount incompatible with their pre-1980's glass, and any adapters require extra optics to correct the focus.

I don't like putting cheap optics between my lens and my body, so I've been getting into old m42 screw mount lenses instead. Glassless adapters, $5 from China.

Really? I had no idea... So I was totally wrong on that count!

That's just like Canon, then, where they abandoned all the FD lenses when they introduced the EOS system in the 80s. I haven't bothered with any old FD glass for the same reason, the adapters need a corrective lens to work.

So I guess only Pentax and Nikon have kept that backwards compatibility over all these years. Interesting...

Where did you get the k mount to eos af confirm adapter from?

The dreaded e bay online auction site is the only place I've ever seen them. Ordered directly from Hong Kong. Search for something like
    Canon mount adapter k mount
and if they're available you should find them...

    Hi!

Did you have any problem with the lens on your EOS? I mean, the metallic part of the rear mount of pentax lenses doesn't make any problem with the mirror?

I've read something about this but I'm a bit confused.

The reflex mirror hitting the aperture stop-down lever is apparently only a problem with full-frame Canon DSLRs such as 5D, 1Ds or any of the EOS film cameras.

On a crop-sensor Canon DSLR like my XTi/400D, there's nothing to worry about.

hello, I have a Ashai SMC Pentax 50mm 1.2 lens with the bayonet style mount. Would u suggest that I too would need the K-Mount adaptor for my 60D? I am excited to give this lens a try and play with it. I also have the 28 2.8 by the same company and the 100-300. Any thoughts on these would be appreciated for I have only been into photog for a few years. Thanks soo much.

I've only been into this for a few years, myself!

Yep, you just need a K-Mount adapter like this for your 60D. Very lucky to have a 50mm f/1.2 lens, it'll be great! The 28mm f/2.8 is a nice lens, but less "exciting". Worth playing around with, anyway.

I don't know anything about Pentax zoom lenses, don't own a single one myself. If it's an older zoom lens, the performance might not be too impressive.

Thanks for the info, I am excited to play with the 1.2 for sure!
