little pier at golden hour

little pier at golden hour

+Chee Chew (Engineering Director for Google+) summed it up for me in +Trey Ratcliff 's recent Google+ hangout (Trey's Variety Hour #20: Great Google+ Photographer Discoveries) "...I kind of plateaud; like a lot of hobbies you do something and then you kind of get better at it...and then you plateau for a while and you get frustrated and then something happens and you start growing again..."

Lately, every time I come home after shooting, I come back unhappy. Like I could have done better, or tried harder or just that my images are too flat and uninteresting. This is part of the reason why I am doing this 52 week project. To force my way over that "hump". To hopefully impress myself once again and be happy with the images I capture. This project is for me. My way of soul searching.

In my quest to get over this "hump", I found myself having a moment to go out, scout and hopefully find something interesting to shoot. Looking for a nice spot for a sunset near where I live, I didn't time it very well and I ended up missing it. I did manage to find this little lake but I almost passed up the opportunity to take a photo of this little pier. Good thing I turned around before getting to my car because this ended up being my favorite from the few that I took that day.

I had the opportunity to be at CES in Las Vegas for the entire week this year! So many Ultrabooks, Tablets, Phones, TV's and gadgets galore. It's a geeks heaven (if you could some how pretend that there weren't crowds of thousands of people). Samsung always has a great looking booth at CES but this year, Audi caught my eye with their all white, lit up booth. Above was a complex looking array of lights that had a nice pattern to it which is what you see here.
