With the palm rest applied, the MacBook Pro lid wouldn't close without pushing harder than I felt I should have to under normal circumstances, flexing the lid a little. The small rubber nubbins on the display needed just a tiny bit more room, so I cut off two bitty triangles to allow the display to close easier.

so I just got one of these so I could use my mouse on the extra space next to the track pad (I have a 17" so there's quite a bit of room just perfect for a mouse). The weird thing is that the mouse tracks inversely on the material. IE when I move the mouse left, it tracks right, up and it tracks down, etc.

Have you tried a mouse on the pad???
