Project 365 #92: 020409 Mind Your Language!
Do you remember that seventies comedy that played ruthlessly on international stereotypes? Ah well, I digress.
You might possibly remember this photo in which I said I was recording my voice for some speech analysis. Well, Viks has been kind enough to share her analysis with me. I'd explain it but it's technical. Well ok, the truth is that I haven't got a baldy clue what the graph represents, other than that it might be intonations and time intervals, but apparently to someone who knows these things it says a lot about my vowel sounds - at least when interpreted with the accompanying large table. So there. I'm laid bare before you all ;) CommentsKeith Williamson

viksy66 says:
F1 (Formant1) is measured in Hertz and is inversely proportional to the height of a vowel :) - so the higher the F1, the lower the vowel
F2 (Formant2) is also measured in Hertz and is proportional to the front-ness of a vowel
And its all colour coded and pretty!
Oooh and yes, you were right before, I probably wouldn't pass without a scouse accent! So thankyou for saving my essay :D
Awesome photo!
