Less tourists than Kiyomizu temple, but the neighborhood is charming. The people are very friendly & helpful in Kyoto. I speak no word of Japanese except "thank you", but people try hard to help with their easy English. Kyoto is so lovely !! ^__^

Taking the bus in Kyoto

Taking the bus in Kyoto

Bus is not the only transportation but the most conveinent one in Kyoto for tourists. Use the Bus Only day pass is 500 Yen per person (unlimited trip inside Kyoto city), or 1200Yen (unlimited trip for both bus and subway inside the Kyoto city). The pass for kids are always half price. Most of the historical sites are inside the Kyoto city. So if we visit 2 to 3 places per day, buying the pass is the great deal. We always buy the pass in the small office next to the Kyoto station bus terminal. The counter there is very helpful, they sell many kinds of pass, provide great information including maps for tourists. The Nara Kintetsu day pass can also be purchased there. Kyoto is such a tourist friendly city. The facilities made the travel so nice & easy. Why not taking the subway? Becasue the subway underground lines don't pass close by most of the historical sites we want to visit. Therefore, the bus is much better for us.

Visited the famous Kiyomizu temple the 2nd day. It's the best weather day we had in Kyoto. The light was great, this is the original color from Portra400, no adjustment of the color, straight from my scanner, the EpsonV600.

Kyoto station near the peak hour

Kyoto station near the peak hour

I thought I can only see this kind of scene in Tokyo and Osaka, I was wrong again. Kyoto is much urban than I expected. Everyone walks fast in Japan especially in the station. I feel comfortable taking pictures everywhere in Kyoto, no one seems to care so much perhaps it's a tourist city, so people are used to this. Just be remembered that you should always keep on the left, so you don't pump to the other people : )
