This remind me of a traditional mexican candies made of milk, pecan and spices, shaped as fruits (as these chocolates) that my grandma had for xmas about 20 years ago! =)

they're gone... all taken... no alcancé ninguno =(

People who know me can attest that I have a self-destructive affinity to chocolates. I already have my tonsils removed 10 years ago as my EENT said that they were already "irreparably diseased'. I still get sick occasionally for excessive sugar intake but with "sore throat"- yes, now my esophagus is the one which gets inflamed now.

I know I really should stop. I try but not when my brother tempts me this box of delicious marzipan (part of his Christmas gifts). In just one sitting, midway in taking photographs of the colorful delights, I ate six. So let's see- at 180calories (50cal fat) per 3 pieces, they were easily 360 calories or about 2 hours of jogging. Aaargh!

I am glad that there are no diabetics in both sides of the family but I do check my blood sugar at least 1x a year. while I cannot say no to pastries and some chocos, I have given up on soda (since I was 8yrs old), candies (about 12) and ice cream (3 yrs ago). I treat myself to ice cream once in awhile though.

and Eric, you are so perceptive. yes, my bro ate #7.

never mind the calories, chocolates are an effective comfort food!

Chocolate (cocoa) is good for you. It is a natural antidepressant. They said so on TV a couple of years ago. They can't be wrong ^-^ !!

amy- I was trying to capture action (of my hand taking a piece) and the dim light was perfect so that only a 15sec exposure can make the image appear bright. but the results were not just ghostly but ghastly. after 10pics, I gave up and began eating hahaha! and I tested every "fruit". but yes, I did some rearranging: GUILTY!

Yeah, I think most marzipan is made with almond paste, egg whites, confectioners' sugar, & vanilla extract, but I've seen variations. I've never made it, but eaten plenty either store-bought or made by others : )
