guy with a red cap

what a splash of red paint to match!
who is filler? hehe
wonder what the arrow points to...
Bill: who knows what the arrow is for... scribbling these marks is foolhardy but some people get a high from the risks they take

The SUBWAY. I knew that I will do a series. The bowels of the city of New York is a fascinating subject for countless of people and count me in. Inside a city insane by itself, the underground can be crazier. But not really. Mostly everyone move inside their own bubble that is truly their own.

at a platform in Times Square-42nd St station, midtown Manhattan, New York, the US

The personal bubble/zone that you speak of is a strong part of the New York personality, its even more concentrated in tigh quarters like the Subway and I feel like this makes it easier to get some great candid shots like this one. The red on the beam is a particularly nice touch.

I like this shot, Farl :) Nice framing and what a timing...are you going to change from a travel photographer into street photographer in NY? ;)

thanks for the reminder jenn. yes, the train whiplash can be dangerous and can topple you off the platform if you're not careful. I always stay out of the danger yellow zone. not worth the risk!

i always love the scenes in underground. even though they have no intention, and they are usually quite indifferent, it becomes very impressive and talkative when it is well taken in the photography. and i think you did that. happy new year :-)

Nice shot; in addition to what has been said above, I like the tilework in the NY subway as we can see here above the heads of the people on the platform.

I love this photo. In fact, I love your travels and stories. You are my favorite online travelwriter. Also, I love the man in the red cap. I wonder what dreams are in his head. I wonder who he might be thinking of. I wonder where he is going.
