cabe lombok

cabe lombok by Farl.
So we are used to see chili in food and in condiments- but in bags? These 20 kilogram sacks of the immensely popular and exceedingly hot LOMBOK PEPPER are resting in a warehouse in Pasuruan, East Java, waiting for distribution.

what relation is the Lombok to the siling labuyo we have in Bikol?

Luigi, Lombok pepper is named after Lombok island where it is endemic. It is larger than the Philippines bird's eye chili (Tagalog and Bicolano's labuyo and the Cebuano kulikot but the they are certainly related.

I think lombok is hotter though and I am not kidding.

Luigi, the squid you mentioned doesn't sound bad at all hehehe.

Patrick, to top it all the dried chilis are predominantly red so although the red bags have a loose mesh weave, the whole ensemble screams scarlet.

Ariel, hot as in hot all right.

thanks everybody.

Pinky, Terence, it's me and my affinity to spice which drive me to post what otherwise is a mundane pile in a warehouse. The hot pink bags and the orange tarpaulin were a bonus! thanks.

I had a lot of peppers in Lombok, by the way: Lombok was much cheaper and crowdy then Bali.
