3 bridges

Camera:Canon EOS 350D Digital
Exposure:10 sec (10)
Aperture:f/5
Focal Length:18 mm
ISO Speed:100
Exposure Bias:1 EV

cropped to remove vignette corners, contrasted, sharpened
(no significant color alteration)
Brooklyn Bridge
Manhattan Bridge
Williamsburg Bridge
3 bridges by Farl.
Tripods are forbidden in New York City, at least in places where the men in blue roam. However, in places as public as the South Street Seaport balconies, nobody really cares about tripods. So I set up shop and tried my new wide angle extension lens. The focus still is sharp but there is dark vignetting at the corners (which I cropped out) and streaking towards the center (see large view). Not ideal but the effect is growing on me.

the Brooklyn Bridge as seen from the South Street Seaport, Manhattan, New York, the US

Beautiful, Farl, I've just been out photographing some London bridges at night and always find such scenes irresistibly picturesque - this seems to have a strong red cast from the lights - not unpleasant though.

I am really curious as to how you found out that tripods are not allowed in NYC. Seems very odd to me. I heard they were banned on the transit system, but on the streets too?

moody- yep, I was warned once for using a tripod. If you google it, you shall see that permits are necessary. really a bummer. but in private spots and unguarded spaces, one can use a tripod.

beautiful pix as always farl

I guess the city law officer would get paranoid at tripods after 9/11 (looking like what it could look like.) Its funny i used to backpack my full size golf set in black cover while riding on my motorcycle to the golf course (i don't use car in the States) .. even back then police stopped me, if i do that now, probably get shot on the spot!

i guess bringing golf bag on motorcycle is not a common thing.

great shot sir Farl! now i'm missing NY :)

i had the same experience about the tripod. sa White House pa hehe. men in blue suddenly came out of nowhere and informed us that tripods are prohibited. eh pinoy ako so siyempre, pag lipat namin sa kabilang side ng WH, ginamit ulit namin only to be approached again by other MIBs sabay saway ulit.. hehe pinoy, we really have a way of insisting what we want..

this reminds me of a joke. These two old men liked to brag to one another. Once they were crossing a river bridge and stopped to take a leak. The one said to the other "The water is cold." The other one shot back "It's deep too."
