The inn where we stayed in Bongao faces the beach so it was convenient to wake up early and wait for the sun to rise. However, there is no horizon view directly in the east. With an interesting cluster of traditional Samal houses over a public dock, I was interested in shooting the sunrise creep up. Shooting the image slightly underexposed at ½ seconds (with a tripod of course), I was able to get the sun bursting into an orange firestorm from behind the thick clouds at about 5:50 A.M. Doesn’t the coconut look like it spat out a golden flame?
