linux linux everywhere

she was pretty sure I was crazy, but was happy to humor me.
he seemed to at least know that linux was an operating system.
linux linux everywhere by colin j..
After we landed in Orlando I talked the flight crew into rebooting the entire system so I could take this picture. The guy in the green shirt knew a little about linux but the rest of the flight crew thought I was nuts.

They could also reboot each seat individually. I suspect there was some sort of mini-itx system built in to each console.

I was on a Swiss Air flight about 3 years ago, and they also used linux. How did I know? My seat kept crashing, and rebooting.

The entire flight I had to watch it crash and reboot. Never got to watch TV/movies or play games.

I learned to hate the penguin.

Not uncommon. I've seen planes reboot all systems more than once during a flight (disappointing performance by our tux friend). Once, I overheard an American computer expert explain to a helpless woman that the entertainment system 'could not handle rapid button presses' and would therefore (obviously, because what else can it do?) spontaneously reset. The woman just nodded and said 'uh huh'.

Is it really that big of a surprise that an airline company would use the most reliable, efficient, and tweak-able operating system when making a new computerized video system? I wasn't surprised to hear of it.
