Phenomenal image! But because I don't want to consider the agony this animal may have suffered after entangling its antlers in the branches and becoming unable to flee being rotisseried alive, I'm going to assume it succumbed on the ground and later some freak came by and hung its bones up .

i would agree with Wildbell. based on the positioning of the deer and the direction of the antlers in comparison to the tree, it seems like someone place the deer in this position after it had died. deers are heavy and will do whatever they can to get out of a dangerous and life threatening situation. with all that thrashing going on, that is, if the deer got itself stuck, it seems like the branch would have snapped under all that pressure
