2010/365/26 Turn the Machines Off

I cannot recall the last time I read from a textbook with a highlighter pen.

Oh, it was this morning.

But before that, it might be 20 years. This morning, I left the laptop closed, the phone off, as I read Vannevar Bush's seminal 1945 essay As We May Think-- but one essay in the New Media Reader.

This is because I am remotely participating in Gardner Campbell's New Media Faculty Development Seminar at Baylor. We devised a way for an audience larger than his group could particpate- by doing the same readings and engaging in online activities together with the Baylor group.
