Three Latop Brigade

From left to right.... an aging Compaq Laptop (2004 vintage) I use to test how bad IE mangles my web designs; in the center is my personal Mac iBook (2003); and on the right is the workhorse, a MacBook Pro (2006).

What? No geotags? And a schedule for when you'll be up at Strawberry? ;-)

Actually I'm wary of geotagging my own things-- the local flickr photos from my house I have actually tagged to a nearby park, and even at Strawberry, I nudged the location up into the cliffs ;-)

The schedule of Strawberry time is also a state secret, but is stored on my Palm ;-)

I used to have a Compaq laptop that was fairly similar from 2001 to 2003* - except the area around the keyboard/screen was silver. Beyond the heaviness (and lack of cd burning/dvd playering, and the crap battery life) it was a great machine.

(* 2003 was the year when I returned to the wonderful world of Mac.)

The battery "life" was a joke. It is on its second battery, and on a good day it might have gone 25 minutes; now the battery is/was dead completely. I found it rather slow and it's hard drive seemed to be clacking all the time as it ran through its motions of getting going. but it served my wife well for 3-4 years as an email web machine.

I miss it like.... well, I cannot think of an appropriate metaphor. I'm glad to be rid of it.

The screen on mine died (the first screen developed a nice crack) after about a year. It was a Celeron 800MHz when I got it, and it seemed nice and fast then.

I miss mine like I miss any Windows computer - not at all really.
