One Sky Photo Quilt: October 1, 2005

Final compilation of the "One Sky" images, created from photo quilt blocks of 4 images from the One Sky group project. Oh I would sleep peacefully under such a quilt!

Each set of four images can be found in this set, where there are links directly back to each flickr member who contributed their sky image to the group pool for "One Sky". October 1 is my sister's birthday, so this image is very special to me in a personal way.

An incredible amount of forethought and work went into this! Great job.

I was going to put a note indicating my shot (bottom left corner), but you do it for us in the other wonderful set. You are amazing!

    Brava!

Nice! Unfortunately, JPG Magazine has a strict no digital manipulation rule, which includes multiple images in one photo, so I had to remove this from the group. Please feel free to add your photos one at a time (and one a day!). Thanks.

i like your sky quilt. I'm most amazed at the complementary colors...nothing in between.

Sorry about that, JPG mag! I just remembered the part about no digital manipulation and none of these were. But I didn't realize the part about multiple images in one photo, so that's a big oops! Nice that you, fraying, came over to the stream to make the comment instead of just deleting - appreciated.

To those wondering, I used Mosaic Maker to make each of the 4-unit blocks. These were made in the first week of October. All along I planned to use the images as a quilter does, mixing up texture, scale and color as possible within the blocks and then how they are positioned next to each other. For a quilter, this is not difficult or complicated at all. There are 3 to 5 repeats of each image. I placed some "singletons" atop sections where the scheme was too obvious.

Seriously, I think this would make a fine quilt and I bet a quilter could actually plan a color scheme around this layout.

Thanks all for visiting and your comments. You know it would not have been possible without the whole group effort, intiated by Michel Thomas.

This is beautiful - too bad you can't make it into a real quilt - or maybe you can! Great idea. And happy birthday to your sister, too.
