0911 Prince's Island Eastern Grey Squirrel Black Morph
Squirrels in the park - we assumed that the black squirrels were a species that we had never seen - but according to talkaboutwildlife.ca/learn/faq/squirrel.php this is a color morph of the Eastern Grey Squirrel.

Dude, so weird that you saw these guys! We learned of them just this summer in the wester Illinois / eastern Iowa area.
We, too, thought they were a different species...
