Modified Cowl Neck Pullover :: Before blocking

Modified Cowl Neck Pullover :: Before blocking by Funessa.
Mods: Knit 7 more rows before dividing for sleeves; shortened cowl neck by 1"; knit 5 rows of twisted rib at end of cowl; knit larger 2x2 cuffs at bottom and sleeve cuffs; knit longer sleeves (dec 2 sts every 8 rows for length of sleeve).

I'm going to block it tonight - I hope it stretches out a bit and I REALLY hope the sleeves lengthen! I really wanted to be DONE knitting this thing, and I'm afraid I may have cast off for the sleeves a little too prematurely.

Thank you!!! I feel kind of fat and gross after my rather debaucherous weekend, but I wanted to get some FO shots before I blocked it. I'm going to soak it now!!!!

Thanks, Lindsay! I'm actually worried it's not HUGE enough, but I wanted to see if it grows any during blocking. (I heart huge cowl necks.)

@NotHip, lauren*o - Aaaah I totally forgot to measure the sweater pre-blocking, so I have NO IDEA how much to stretch them. D'oh!

I say tug an 1.5 inches longer than whatever their current state out of the tub. You can also reblock if that doesn't work.

@NotHip - OK at this point I am totally freaking out that it blocked waaaaaay too long, so I kinda just want to throw it in the dryer. Your thoughts?

NotHip  Pro User  says:

Nooooooo, I've heard too many bad dryer stories (even though I know this is super wash, I worry). I say just scrunch the sleeves back up to a size that looks better and pat it down into the shape you want again & aim a fan on that sucker. Have you measured from your armpit down to your wrist to see how long you want it?

no do NOT do the dryer
they may shrink up a little bit as they dry anyway
and you can always fold over the cuffs
winter is coming dude, you may want them looooooong

It turned out great! I love the cowl -- perfect transitions between skeins too. I give it a 10!

Thanks, Twisted Knitter!!! I got lucky with the skein transitions - it was a nail biter there for a while before I went back and returned some dud skeins.

@NotHip, @GirlReaction - OK I just got suuuuuuuper impatient and popped it in the dryer on low for 10 minutes. It's still a little damp so I'm going to let it finish drying on the towels, but I needed to speed up the process a bit! Things do not dry quickly in this humid climate! (As I'm sure you know, Christy... :))

can't wait to see it in its super-final state! when i block superwash it always grows exponentially and i sorta smoosh it back to where i want it but i mostly trust that it will shrink back as it dries and i let it be. (no pinning.) i'm sure you can get those sleeves where you want them!

well, it's better that the sleeves grew too long than not grew at all, you can always take out the bind-off and rip them back a little! and yes, DiC classy blocks out super long. hope the body is fine!
