• power supply sitting on a table.

I think it will be here for awhile, maybe until I purchase a better cooling fan.

UPDATE: This computer died. Motherboard overheated. Critical fan had died. My new computer beeps when that happens -- and it already saved me.
  • infrared receiver: music, video, montior power -- lotsa stuff controlled by remote control. I can even move the mouse.
  • a flashlight was definitely needed.
    a LOT.

Since I have no cd-rom and the bay is empty, I put the flashlight in here.

    a LOT.

Since I have no cd-rom and the bay is empty, I put the flashlight in there.
  • I use nailclippers as wirestrippers.
  • various screwdrivers were needed
  • wasn't much use
  • This is my floppy drive. Although I could put it in the missing cd-rom bay, I am planning on getting a new burner at some point.

So, the floppy has nowhere to go. It hangs out of the front, wraped in an electrostatic bag, duct-taped together.
  • USB to PlayStation2 adapter.

Allows you to hook dancepads to your PC and play StepMania, the open-source (and I'd say harder) version of DDR.

Haven't made my own song yet, but it's possible.

Now my dancepads can work on my PC, PS2, and X-Box!
  • used to cut my dead fan off of it's power adapter (cut the wires)
  • 5 harddrives:
    2 500Gs, 3 120Gs

  • my stereo
    120W x 5
Sony STR-950 or something like that. Rip-off, but my replacement's still going to cost more. I need multi-room control.
  • USB wireless mouse, but I usually use a (wired) Crystal Trackball with a serial extension cable giving me 12 feet of mobility .
  • spare monitor, but i usually only use my 36-inch TV as a screen
  • USB Hub, Carolyn's.

Actually, I don't raelly need it anymore. My thumbdrive is no longer reliable on it.
  • optical digital out.

the only way to truly get an audio signal to a well-networked audio receiver, without creating ground loop buzz.
  • mini-jack (headphone) output converted to stereo RCA output.

I use this to do a 50-foot RCA run to the stereo upstairs.

Kind of redundant due to my FM transmitter, but this was up for years before I got the PCI-MAX 2005 transmitter.
  • Ground Loop Buzz Isolation Transformer ($15, radio shack).

I use this to eliminate the ground loop buzz between my VCR and my computer, for the purpose of capturing video from VHS or TV without having a buzz.

Unlike my (and most) stereo, my VCR (and most) does not have optical digital audio out.
  • this power button wont work because my face is deatched. You have to reach behind for a nasty-feeling square one.
  • SBLive Platinum 5.1 livedrive front-input/output-jack add-on

You don't see a lot of sound cards with RCA *inputs*.

This is mandatory for video capture, as far as I am concerned.

  • screw collection
  • SBLive Platinum 5.1 livedrive front-input/output-jack add-on
  • I usually throw spare dessicant packs towards my computer.

It can't hurt to keep it dry.
  • orange "moving men", as featured in annoying TV commercials.

It does indeed make it slightly easier to slide this thing around, which we've had to do many times during our construction.
  • spindles of burned dvd-rs/cd-rs

I got here from a google link about getting rid of the crap audio when recording from computer to tv/vcr... I want to know if you accomplished this and how...what I really want is to accomplish it myself.

CuteNCrunch, why on earth would you want to record a computer onto a vhs tape? That seems a little backwards but I can imagine some situations. Yes, the ground loop buzz isolator / ground loop buzz isolation transformer is something you can buy at RadioShack.com for about $15. It's a freakin' silver bullet, removing a good 90% of the 60Hz ground loop buzz that seemingly accompanies any and every RCA-connected computer/stereo combination. Multiple computers, stereos, residencies, and cities have done this 100% of the time for me, so I employ 1 or 2 of these from time to time.
