Horned Camel Demon of the Upper HellHORNED CAMEL DEMON. Folk art, circa 1140 AD. In Mayanazian mythology, there are two hells -one below the earth and the other above. The lower hell is reserved for the souls of the "impure". Upper hell is populated with lesser demi-imps, black angels, giant winged spiders and fearsome horned camel demons. The Mayanazians believed the camel demons carried off the souls of the dead and devoured unchaste women and lawyers. Courtesy of the Louvre.
