Well this certainly bumps tossing up a notch!

Haha, funny you say that... these were so simplistic (both the code and visual source), I could have done these with a static image, but I was intending to explore the animated aspects more till my camera broke. *sniff*

I do have a photo to post in the "last photo the camera took" thread... but it's not as pretty as these two so I'll wait a day or so.

I love the top point of light, it looks like it generates the curves below

Glad you noticed... it is interesting the way the thickness of the outer lines of the shape combine to singularities, and with enough exposure, even a little burst of flare (had I been using a white shape it would have been more pronounced, the cyan kept it from over exposing).

I like the image but... I am stupid - please explain how it is made like you were explaining it to a 5 year old child who has never seen a computer before (although, I do understand how camera tossing works).

THANK YOU, MISTER! :-D

@joseph. If you follow the link to the other image you'll get a better idea... but basically I programmed a visual onto the laptop screen, and then performed the camera toss with that as the source. It wasn't doing much in this one, could have done it with a static image file instead of the slightly animated version.

How fast was the square moving? Did you happen to do a toss of the static shape before setting it in motion to observe the difference in the resulting images? Although I see you won't be needing to worry about having to focus anything for a short while...You could set the focus prior to setting the shape in motion, no? I've done that with the music graphics. (sorry - I know how you feel many times over, You can get a 7 mpix Canon A series pretty cheaply, say $100, along with the no-questions-asked return policy...I've used my policy three times now, and it's pretty satisfying to walk in with a smashed camera and walk out 5 minutes later with a new one :-) )

LoL mtnrockdhh,
Yeah like i said, I was just messing around with initial trials... had never even intended to upload these but then the camera broke and I knew I should explain via posting.

Definitely on the focus tip, although it would have required turning a light on first... i try to pre-focus on the lit screen and subject, but as I said, that camera really sucked.

Although this is quite focused actually, the subject in motion creates a subtle lack of hard edges.

Good to know the no questions return policy tactic works. I have been meaning to actually do that when I buy my first camera, but up till now, i've never actually bought a camera, and I have like 12.

Ohh and your question, not fast at all, almost negligible, and i think this one was actually a triangle. I did triangle, square, and a couple different color tests before my camera broke.

Wow! Nifty setup and great result (well, apart from the equipment loss part - sorry to hear about that. After all this tossing death by just dropping from a cushion is pretty ironic indeed.).
Like this one best of the set, Sarah is right about the bright spot on the top.

@leili haha. I occasionally find that happening with some people when browsing other's favorites too. Some people on here are just so darn distinctive. Considering how many I encouraged to try this technique though it's hard to imagine that mine still are. But cheers for noticing!
