The Perfect Beauty of Lake Moraine

Newer Older

After several hours of driving and hiking, we came to Lake Moraine. We immediately noticed that the best vantage view of the lake was atop a huge pile of steep jagged rocks. The climb up the rock face looked difficult to climb and we were just too tired to climb. Just as we were getting ready to leave, we noticed several young girls laughing away on top of the rock pile. So, on our way to the car we stumbled upon a trail that seemed to lead to a back trail of sorts. With little energy, we walked the trail for a while and discovered the allusive trail to the top. It was a steep climb and about half way, we discussed turning back. But with some encouragement from my husband, we finally made it to the top. Though there were others there with us, I don't remember hearing anyone speak for a long while. The color of the water was amazing and the view spectacular!

Taken in the afternoon at approximately 3:30 pm, on September 27, 2007, at Lake Moraine, Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada.

I had to go straight to the Canada set after seeing the cover shot. I was up there in a place that looked similar to this a few years back. Unfortunately I wasn't into photography at the time. This is a really fantastic shot. That lake just pops!

Fantastic shot! Really dig the vertical composition here, it's a nice change from all the horizontal shots from here out there and it works perfectly well! =)
