it's very firmly attached. there's sort of a sleeve for the nose, a hook for the rear, and 2 straps on the sides that pass under the v-rack rails to secure the whole snapdeck-cum-pad together, whilst tensioning the fore-aft attachment. quite technical. very dense, firm foam. stirrups are contemplated for passengers too small to reach the footsies.
