The world just became a brighter place for me, knowing morels also grow in Australia.

But I'm pretty sure they're not endemic to Australia. I think they arrived with American or European pine trees grown in timber plantations.

You can see a curled Portuguese millipede in the foreground, native to southwest Europe and a pest in Australia. The green (nasty weed) behind is false onion weed, native to South America. I try to remove it all every winter from my garden, but it's a never ending battle.

What a great photo! Its like a little garden in itself. The fungi is rather pretty with its wrinkly cap . :)
