I think these must be at all "Carling Academy" venues... I noticed this exact sign in the tiny "Bar Academy" in Birmingham, at a recent gig.

I tried to get a cameraphone snap, but my battery had run out after playing Tetris while waiting for the bands!

Hi I used your photo to illustrate a blog post (in Norwegian, I'm afraid) here: nrkbeta.no/2009/10/13/smart-bruk-av-sosiale-m edier-101/ thank you for making it available!

Can I ask why you think this is a 'Mad' sign? They are 100% correct to have these signs at venues, crowd surfing is very dangerous.

It's so, so important to look after each other at concerts. I know it seems like fun, but it's actually very dangerous to crowd surf. Life is precious and is very important.

And yes, as you mentioned above, there are indeed lots of these signs in Denmark, as they know all too well how important crowd safety is, having lost nine people at Roskilde Festival 2000.

Liam - thanks for your concern. I just meant 'mad' as a synonym for 'interesting', not that the sentiments of the sign were mad. Not that the sign made any difference anyway.
