These calves are not being treated as living beings but as commercial commodities.

My grandfather raised cattle. He actually named them all and refused to sell them. Not long after he had to sell the farm since it was obviously a very expensive hobby. Farms that make money and survive are commercial operations. Doesn't mean you can't be humane, but its a reality that some cannot accept.
