Support Urban Park Funding

Los Angeles is park poor, and there are unfair park, school, and health disparities.

Children of color living in poverty lack access to parks, to school fields, to healthy food in grocery stores and restaurants, and to cars or transit to reach parks, schools, or healthy foods. They suffer from the highest levels of child obesity and diabetes.

The core maps and analyses are a guide for creating healthy, livable communities for all, including:

*the Olmsted vision for parks, playgrounds, and beaches;
*the poverty of parks today;
*child obesity levels;
*the Los Angeles and San Gabriel Rivers, and the Heritage Parkscape linking cultural, recreational, and environmental resources.

The City Project's Policy Report "Healthy Parks, Schools, and Communities: Mapping Green Access and Equity for the Los Angeles Region" provides a positive vision to:
*Create healthy parks and schools for all
*Revitalize the Los Angeles and San Gabriel Rivers
*Improve health and reduce diabetes
*Invest billions of dollars in infrastructure bonds
*Promote economic vitality, green local jobs, and affordable housing
*Engage, educate, and empower communities.

The City Project supports a collective vision for a comprehensive and coherent web of parks, schools, rivers, beaches, mountains, forests, and transit to trails that promotes human health, a better environment, and economic vitality for all, and reflects the cultural diversity of Los Angeles.
