I took this shot in 2005 at the 1st annual Icer Air event in San Francisco, CA. To me, this image invokes not only speed, athleticism, daring, and flight, but another side of California culture that many do not see. In California, we not only have sunshine and sand, but awesome snow in our Sierras and sometimes even in San Francisco! Of course, it didn't actually snow in SF that day, but rather manmade snow was blasted onto Fillmore St. where snowboarders and skiers alike came blasting down the hill. A part of this image that you don't see is the iconic Cable Car they came rocketing out of to start their descent towards the lip of the jump, which can be seen in the bottom right corner. If you look closely, you can also see residents on top of the building cheering the snowboarder on, as well as a huge crowd of people lining the street. Over 15,000 people came to watch! The people and culture of California are full of surprises and this was one of the best events I ever attended. Only in California! I'll never forget it!
