E. Washington Boulevard Bridge

Constructed in 1930 by the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Engineering and designed by Chief Engineer Merrill Butler. The polychrome terra cotta frieze panels (which still retain their color on the sides which face away from the street) depict the art of bridge building. The bridge received a seismic retrofit in 1994.
