Your shots are so cinema-based! This again is
straight out of a movie. The expression, the
background the lighting, all very dramatic.
love it.

This is a great portrait and the lighting is
amazing. Handheld at night?

@ I appreciate it! I guess I'm a reverse
Larry Clark.
@ vidalia: Thank you, and yes, handheld.
The Neopan 1600 was just enough to get by at f2 & 1/60 or 1/30
most of the time. Next time I go out at
night I'll pack some Ilford 3200!

@ Edgar: Dude! Thank you so much...I don't
want to make anybody feel bad!
@ Paper: Thanks, I appreciate it! This
was a big helping of luck, too.
@ mink: Thank you! My scanner is more
portable than it is quality, but at 800dpi
everything looks good.

Great contrasts and focus in your night
shots. I'm having a rather hard time to focus
at night and pretty much rely on estimating
distance, which at f1.7 is a bit hit or miss.

Thanks, and yeah, it is difficult to focus at
night. I had a lot of other shots on this
roll that could've been good, but weren't
because the focus was way off. I think the
key is to practice a lot during the day, and
get familiar with your surroundings. I go up
and down these streets almost every day, so
I'm starting to get a better idea of the
common distances between me and the subject.

Great shot - the combination of the dof and
the blown out highlights in the background
really emphasize the perfect exposure you got
on the subject.

@ map1: Thanks! I've started shooting with
my Pentax MX again just as of this weekend
thanks to finally getting a new lens for it.
I even did a continuation to this specific
series (Hollywood Aftermath). I should have
some of it up by Tuesday!

Brilliant. I was looking through Flickr,
checking out the results for Fuji Neopan
1600, and just at the moment I found this
photo, Bobby Womack, Across 110th St, came on the radio. Seemed to fit with the
mood of this photo.
