I agree entirely and this goes to the very
heart of what is wrong about newspapers, and
is symptomatic of their decline. They are run
by people who deal in words and are
incredibly literal - it blinds them to any
other sort of communication. They forget that
before the written word was the spoken word,
and before the spoken word was visual
communication. All children draw unaided but they are taught
how to read and write
