The Pretty: Black-hooded Oriole
![]() Update: Black-hooded Oriole (Oriolus xanthornus)
www.kolkatabirds.com/blackhoodedoriole8.jpg Yet another bird that I don't know much about - Beautiful yellow and black bird always has a calmness about it. One of my favourite birds of the lot. Its spends almost all of its time on branches well above the ground, unlike many similar sized bird species in the region. CommentsAshok (Chunangadan) says:Apologies, I know very little about this
bird! This is bird is a rather common bird
(though not as common as crows) in Kerala. I
can only guess its diet would be mostly
little insects and worms thats found on the
trees (not so much of a "bottom
feeder") and may be (not sure) fruits
and stuff? On average, in Kerala, we would
have mangos, papayas, bananas and a few other
such tropical fruits.. Apologies I don't have
any authoritative information on this bird. Would you like to comment?Sign up for a free account, or sign in (if you're already a member). |

I have with me a black hooded oriole as a gift from a friend here at bulacan philippines. Would you please elaborate on certain characteristics of this bird - like its favorite food or bird seeds. Also, is this a kind of migratory bird which may carry the risk of avian flu? thank you...
