I have just revisited my images of Niagara falls I took back in 2008 and came upon this image which worked out nicely, I think.

The image looks dark at the small size, so please enjoy the larger version

Niagara falls’ majesty and beauty is best embodied by Horseshoe Falls on the Canadian side. The feeling of power so close to these roaring waterfalls was mesmerizing and I used a faster shutter speed to keep the texture in the turquoise colored water and thereby convey the falls’ power.

That morning the sun was mostly hidden behind a cloud bank, and some photographers left, disappointed by the lack of light. Fortunately the sun finally did climb over the cloud bank and lit the mist and waterfalls in beautiful light.

Thanks for looking!

Well, here it is. My first ever article, together with cover image!, has been published in Canada's premier photography magazine.

The result of many years of hard work and persistence, and I hope you realize you can get there too if you put in the effort.

Thanks for all your kind comments and support! The link to the magazine website is: www.photolife.com/currentIssue.php

Kind regards,
Christoph

The Shire Revisited_Valle de Cauca, Colombia, South America

The Shire Revisited_Valle de Cauca, Colombia, South America

A lovely farming valley close to Valle de Cauca province in Colombia, which is a large coffee growing region.

Ironically it happens to be just off a main road and runners and cyclists rest here to enjoy this little jewel of serenity. I was lucky to be able to enjoy some dappled light and the herd of cows on the right hand side adds extra interest to this already engaging landscape.

Canon 5D, Canon EF17-40 mm f/4L @ 29 mm, 1/60 and 1/15 s @ f/16, ISO 100. Blended Exposures.

Distant Shores_Chapmans Peak, Cape Peninsula, South Africa

A twilight view of Hout Bay, cradled on the left by Chapman's Peak, taken from a rather unconventional, and I suppose little visited, vantage point off Chapman's Peak Drive, in the Cape Province of South Africa.

Thanks for looking!

Last Rays_Cape Point Nature Reserve, Cape Peninsula, South Africa

Last Rays_Cape Point Nature Reserve, Cape Peninsula, South Africa

As I was photographing fields of Cape Everlastings at Cape Point Nature Reserve, South Africa, I noticed that some rather beautiful light was developing over the nearby ocean. As I approached a little, somewhat hidden bay, I noticed a school of seals enjoying the last rays of light before they had to return to the cold waters of the Atlantic.
I approached them as carefully and silently as I could, and by the time I captured this image, one of the baby seals had seen me and alarmed its sleeping mother (standing up here) of my presence. I was struck by the similarity in behaviour to how a little child would alarm its mother, and was reminded of the emotions and behaviour we share with so many animals. How different are we really?
