I'll say it's a Cooper's based on GISS and rounded tail feathers, but ID'ing juvenile accipiters is a rather imprecise science, if you ask me. He was patient enough, anyway.

I spent 15 minutes lying on my stomach waiting for the sun to rise and light up this heron. Then more waiting for him to do something interesting. Temps just above freezing and breezy - good thing I left my gloves in the car! My hands are almost warm again as I type this 5 hours later.
