Cobra

Cobra by Christian Rydahl.
Hi, I know my homemade lightbox isn't perfect, but tell me what you think anyway!

With the launch of the Ericofon, popularly called the Cobra, a new type of telephone was introduced in the world market. Ericsson’s work on this one-piece telephone had begun in 1940, but it was only after the end of the war that the pace of development picked up. This was due in large part to the fact that new materials launched after the war facilitated the construction of a telephone in which everything was included in a single unit.

The Ericofon was launched in 1956. With its spectacular shape it was
primarily aimed at the US market, but became very popular in Sweden as well.
That it was manufactured in six different colors was a minor revolution in
the black and white telephone world. Even more importantly, the Ericofon
created an awareness among telephone manufacturers that a telephone could
have an imaginative design.

I really like this. On their own, the three pics are nice individually, choosing to put them together really completes the picture. I like the old style telephone in new style colours. The dial as separate from the ear piece adds to the slight “weirdness” I feel here. Sharp colours, and the lighting + vignette frames the three pieces very well. Very intriguing.

Love the lighting on all the three - Exellently done. You've managed to avoid harsh shadows or harsh reflections - Very difficult given the shiny texture of the phone - Good work done here!

All three images have come out very well - Congratulations!

I am not a fan of images composed of multiple other shots, but I will definitely make an exception here. When viewing it large, the colors and details look stunning! And they are all being driven by the superb lighting in the scene (in all 3 shots). I am not sure what your homemade lightbox looks like, but I definitely like the results!

The only thing I don't particularly like (and its not a huge deal) is the fact that you can see the reflection of the light source on the phone's surface (especially in the 2nd and 3rd shots). Maybe you can try either changing the angle )either the camera or light source), or perhaps moving the box further away and turning up the power on the flash (assuming you can). Just a thought, great image(s) regardless!

this is a difficult one for me because i am not a lover of these kinds of contemporary technical shots.
i think your light box works fine - i can't see anything wrong with the lighting. the way you set up the shot is well thought out and if i were writing a book on the evolution of the telephone i think i would be pleased to find this picture available to me.
so maybe i do think it is a good picture. the subject is just not interesting for me.

i guess what i am saying is that as "art" it does not move me but i can't take anything away from you in terms of good photography

I don't know what to say about the technique about photography since I am an unskilled commentator but the object itself is stunning. It fits into any designer household as an object of art.

Great object, great shot.

Hi Christian, maybe my first comment seems to be abrupt and unkind.
I'm sorry, I didn't want to be rude but I think that it is difficult (for me) to comment this picture.
The reason is not that I don't like it but that this shot seems to be a sort of advertisment shot and I'm not able to comment this kind of shots.
Anyway I could say that it is well done and well thought, even if I don't like pictures with multiple shots.
The way you used the lights is quite good even if I can see some reflections due to the flash but I know that it's not easy to photograph this kind of objects.
Maybe it could be better (in my opinion) to use a different background; maybe with a black background the soft green of the telephone could stand out better.

and i know you said your lightbox isn't perfect, but i like it. the shadows around the edges make the photo even more interesting. plus the ericofon pops out more. awesome photo!
