View From the Top of the Rockefeller Center Looking South, NYC

Newer Older

Well I decided to do some tourist stuff around NYC so I went to see some of the sites I usually neglect. The weather turned out to be great and I went to the 70th story of the Rockefeller Center. Great view. I think it's almost better than the Empire State's view. I waited for the sunset and captured quite a few shots. There's so much detail in this photo it's a bit overwhelming but breathtaking at the same time.

I recently purchased a wide angle lens (Canon 10-20mm 3.5/4.5 EFS wide angle lens). I normally use my 17-40mm L series lens but I get frustrated at the 17mm and was looking for something wider. I'll be interested to see if there's that much of a difference between the EF series and the L series (there's definitely a difference in price!!!!). There is currently no L series that is under 14mm that Canon makes. Hopefully I'll have my opinion on this new lens soon!

TIP - I've shot sunsets before but with this particular shot I had to hpld my place so no one would take it. I took before and after shots of the sun going down. I found that in excitement I took a million shots before the sun went down and now I know that the sky usually looks the best after the sun actually goes goes down. So save some memory space! I'm learning patience as I grow older....... ha.

Chris- this is fantastic! It's a bit overwhelming, to think of all the people that must be living in that view. Wow!
