Waiting for the boat on Santa Cruz

Our ship, the M/V Ambassador – I think.
Cerro Dragon (Dragon Hill)
Waiting for the boat on Santa Cruz by ChrisIrmo.
This should be viewed large and on black. Or, even better, at original size.

This is a panorama I took several years ago when I visited the Galapagos Islands with my sister. I rediscovered the makings of the pano last night while cleaning up some files; I had completely forgotten about taking this.

At the time I think I knew I was in a place that would make a beautiful pano, but I had neither the knowledge or the software to do it properly. Today I've at least got the software :). I'm really pleased with the way it turned out for a handheld, point and shoot, automatic exposure panorama.

I remember making my sister get out of the way as I was taking each shot, but now that I look back on it, I wish I had included her. There are so many other people in the shot, what would one more have hurt? It would have been great to have her there, since just about all of our shipmates are captured here.

This was taken just after we met this guy

Well, I do appreciate your belated desire to include me in the pictures, but perhaps my beauty would have overshadowed the beauty of the island. All of our other shipmates were merely professional folk dancers--not professional gourgeous people. Love the picture!!! I want this one framed in my house!!!

Yeah, it brings back some great memories. I hope you've got a really big wall though, because at 9" high, it's 72" wide. You'd have a hard time even finding glass for the frame!

I think I see your buddy Chris and the police officer and his wife.

Awesome panorama... unreal that you were able to do that with auto exposed hand-held shots. Very nice!

well, crap. i'm afraid I might actually be in the picture. there's someone sitting down on a yellow towel, wearing a white t-shirt, and drinking something. it might be me--but the person appears to be wearing a watch, and i don't remember having a watch on that trip...we'll have to check some of the other pictures to see if i was wearing one. in any case, my face is covered up which is what kept me from outshining the rest of the photo. Thank God for that. Otherwise, it would have been a crap shot.

Well, that could be you. The other pictures that I have available from that day show you with a white shirt and it looks like that was the only day on the whole trip that you did wear a watch:
