Galapagos Land Iguana

I'm uploading a bunch of my old photos for safe keeping. There are a few that I think are worth sharing even though they're a few years old. This is from a trip to the Galapagos Islands with my sister in 2002, when she was an exchange student in Ecuador.

This guy snuck up behind us on the trail in the Galapagos Islands. He stood still just long enough for me to get this shot.

Terrific shot Chris. When I think of how many animals are on the endangered specie list, I realize that these photos may be all we have to show our kids and grandkids someday.

Jana, hopefully Ecuador continues to provide the protection for the Galapagos that they are now. There are only two small cities on the islands, and tourists are not allowed to stay on the islands themselves. They're only allowed to stay on cruise ships and can only set foot on the islands with a licensed guide in small groups.

It's amazing how the animals (like this guy) are not afraid of humans. We're not allowed to touch them, and they know it. Many of the animals will walk right up to you, or allow you to walk right past without so much as flinching. It's truly an amazing place!
