Reflecting on Lent![]() Lent can be a great time for reflection. Many choose to take away things during this time that they deem unhealthy or which have started to take up too large a place in their lives. Others choose to add things to their life that they feel would be positive.
No, I 'm not Catholic :-) I was raised Lutheran and my family currently attends a Methodist church. This is a small cross my wife had set up on the altar of the praise service where I play and sing on Sundays. I considered giving up photo taking for Lent but knew of too many upcoming photo opportunities between now and Easter "-) Then I thought maybe I could give up Flickr … but I also use Flickr as a way to share photos with family and friends so I didn’t want to do that either. Anyway, this photo was going to be my “Goodbye Until Easter” photo but instead it will be my “Here’s my boring thoughts on Lent” photo :-) In what I’m sure was a stroke of spiritual wisdom, I have instead decided to increase my salad intake for Lent … which will hopefully lead to the taking away of pounds :- D I will also share the following poem I found: Lent ------ Wind and rain this grey Lenten day. Wind that howls around Jagged sins. Rain, My vain Desire for holiness, Condenses against a leaden sky And falls again. No sadness, no desire, no pain. Only this grey day. I'll believe in Easter When it comes. When it comes again. --Sr. Jo Morton, OSB Mount Angel, Ore. Commentsfathero9
