I represented myself all the way through trial in federal district court, winning a judgment for $19,462 for the use of two of my photos by Andrew Vilenchik on behalf of his two corporations. I am currently working on collection, he shifted his operations into his father's name to avoid payment of the judgment. The entire litigation is described in chronological order here: Gregerson v. Vilana Financial, Inc.. The judge agreed with me that Andrew Vilenchik forged a sales agreement for photos he actually stole from my website, as stated in her Findings of Fact, Conclusions of Law, and Order for Judgment.

Andrew Vilenchik, though his attorney, Boris Parker, brought seven claims against me: defamation, trademark infringement, injunction, deceptive trade practices, unjust enrichment, appropriation of name and likeness, and tortuous interference. They were seeking as much as 1 million dollars. I defeated all of these claims ("Defendant's counterclaims against Plaintiff are DISMISSED WITH PREJUDICE"). This was based on my publicizing his theft of my photos, which allegedly harmed his business. Of course, the judge ruled he had not only stolen the photos but forged evidence in an attempt to cover it up.

I would not recommend doing this yourself -- it's been over two years of litigation -- but I thought I would nonetheless share this account. I will update my webpage as collection of the judgment proceeds.
