Calling Home
In a small inn in a small town, Ethan waited to hear from Daniel. Days passed by with no word. Finally, Clara couldn't take it anymore.
"I realize she's your grandmother," Clara said to Ethan about the innkeeper, "but she's driving me crazy! It's bad enough that we're in an old fashioned town, full of old fashioned people, but Grandma O'Farrell keeps making us wear old fashioned clothing. This is the fifth old fashioned dress I've had to wear in the past five days. The fifth!"
"I'm worried about Daniel, too," Ethan said.
"I didn't say anything about Da--never mind. Just take me home, or find your grandmother another hobby. I just can't see how she's innkeeper, bell hop, gas station owner, grocery store owner, and chief of police, and yet she still has time to make me wear this!"
"I'll give Daniel a call and see what's going on, okay?" Ethan went to the old fashioned phone on the wall. "Hello, operator? I'd like to place a long distance call."
"I'm sorry," the operator said, "but due to an incident, all phone lines out of town are inoperable. Have a nice day, ma'am." The operator disconnected the call.
Ethan looked over at Clara. "She says the lines are--wait, did she just call me ma'am?"
"You do sound like a girl over the phone," Clara told him. "Maybe the operator thought you were a girl."
"But the operator is my grandmother!"
(Somehow, my camera's sensor seems to have a ton of dust on it. I can never get the sensor 100% clean, but I had it fairly clean after about an hour of going at it. It was good for about a week, and then suddenly all this dust is there. It took about half an hour editing the two photos above to "heal" all the dark spots out of the photos. This is demoralizing... [and time consuming])

Toy Engineer
If you're ever heading east of the kingdom of pixies, or west of the kingdom of rats, you will find a railroad track. Within the boundary of this track is the kingdom of toys. If your timing is just right, you may meet the old man who runs the train around this border track.

NaNoWriMo 2009 Continuation
I've fallen behind on my word count, and some things came up over the weekend, so I wasn't able to catch up. Things slowed down a bit today, but maybe they're about to start picking up again tomorrow.
The Pink Sylphide, continued...

Leg Comparison
Left: Stock Dal body with stock Dal legs.
Center: Stock Obitsu 21/23cm body with Obitsu 21/23cm legs.
Right: Stock Dal body with Obitsu 21/23cm legs (see below for reference photo).
Notice how this hybrid cannot close the legs together. Using the lower half of the Obitsu body in place of the stock body allows the legs to close (like seen in the middle), while allowing the stock Dal upper body and neck to be used.
I don't yet know which I'll choose for Melanie, and if I'll keep Alyss as she is now. I do prefer the Obitsu stomach, but don't care for the gap between the stock and Obitsu bodies. But it would be nice to have her feet able to touch.

Something's Different
Ethan: There's something different about my favorite Kitty.
Alyss: Maybe...
Ethan: I'm an expert at the little changes in a lady's appearance. Now, let's see, is that a new outfit?
Alyss: Alyss has had this dress for a long time...
Ethan: Haha, I'm just kidding. Then it's, uh... Um... You really don't accessorize much, do you? Doesn't give me much do go on.
Alyss: Are you sure you see anything different?
Ethan: There's something different. Just give me a little more time, and I'll figure it out. It's not new shoes, since you're not wearing any. Aha, I see it now! You've gotten shorter!
Alyss: Yes, just like Grandma O'Farrell does!
For the curious, an Obitsu/Dal hybrid using the Dal's body and the Obitsu's arms and legs will be the same height as a stock Dal body if you're using the 21cm Obitsu. With a 23cm Obitsu (extra height in the lower legs), it'll be taller than a stock Dal body. I swapped Alyss from the 23cm Obitsu legs to 21cm Obitsu legs, since she's supposed to be shorter than Melanie. Once I swap Melanie over to the 23cm Obitsu arms/legs, they'll finally have a proper height difference.
