I love the deep red colour of this dragonfly. They always gather around the ferns beside a shallow pond. I did see a mating process between a deep red female dragonfly and a blue coloured dragonfly. However, I had not much luck capturing them with my dSLR. They were too shy to expose their intimate moment.
Luckily I was able to capture this shot with multi-coloured reflection off the wings of this dragonfly. This is a consolation. Her wings are studed with many coloured diamonds and they shimmered in the strong sun light.
I could almost imagine electric charges firing through from her thorax to the tip of her double wing, turning the wings' windows into colourful diamonds.

This is one of the most amazing bug macros I have ever seen. The sparkling bokeh in the wings is spectacular!

Great subject, although I think the focus should have been on the fantastic wings rather than the body.
But then again, with a subject as pretty as this, you take what you can get. :)

I did tried a few shots with the wing more focus, but the beauty of the colourful BOKEH was gone! So I had to forego the Sharpness for the COLOUR. This was shot in mid-day sun. In fact for Insect, mid-day sun, works well for me, except it is very hot and after a few hours in the sun, I felt a little headache and heat all over.
