How Chmurka saved my hamsters' lives... (true story)
It happened over 6 months ago, on 30th april.
I took Chmurka outside.
She loved being outside, when it was sunny and warm. She used to run
around in the grass even for 90 minutes nonstop.
But that day, Chmurka didn't want to have fun. She was sad and tired.
It was very strange...
Even new unknown territories failed to excite her.
So I took her back home, much earlier than normally.
When we were opening the door, we felt a weird scent. Something
burning...
Few seconds later, the flat was filling with smoke - outside there
were people running and screaming..
My neighbour's apartment was on fire.
In total panic, we grabbed all our hamsters, hamsters and nothign
else, and ran down the stairs outside..
Fire brigade arrived soon and they started to put the fire out.
There were big black clouds of smoke.
So much smoke that it could suffocate me, let alone my hamsters...
If we came a few minutes - or even moments - later, it would've been
too late..
The fire brigade wouldn't have let me go inside the bulding...
I came home only because Chmurka wanted to go home.
I have no idea how Chmurka *knew*. Knew that something bad is going to
happen.
Maybe it was just a coincidence?
But I think she just knew it... she always knew everything.
If, that day, Chmurka didn't want to go home...
All my hamsters would most probably die, suffocate with smoke.
No Pompon.
No Piórko.
No Bułeczka.
That thought is still total horror for me.
It was the most frightening terrible thing I ever experienced.
I waited a long time to tell you this story...
I waited for the right moment or something...
Today is 5 months without Chmurka, so..

aawww lovely. Oh klara, how lovely your photos are!!! Please, tell me, what camera do you have - mine is getting old and isnt very good :( You may have noticed holly's eyes go a bit strange and the picture gos a bit misty. Unlike beautiful Chmurkas, A true fave :)
oh and the story is truly amazing, thats mi girl Chmurka, always savin da day! On a serious note I had no idea this happened Klara. this must have been one of THE most horrible experiences.

Wow....a very powerful story....I believe she knew....I have read many stories of birds, cats, dogs alerting their families...so though small, why not a hamster...She was & still is an Angel....

Awwwwww, she was an Angel then and an Angel now!!! Animals that are loved, love back in ways we can't even imagine. Sometimes it's outright and like her saving your life and your other hamsters, sometimes they are quiet and just sit by your side!! She is beautiful still in your heart!!

that is heartwrming! sometimes animals can sense if something bad is going to happen~Chmurka was special..so that must have been it~ She still loves you klara..and we love her with all our heart!

Wow! Amazing story!! Yay Chmurka for saving your family!! Always good to listen to your instinct, they say things happen for a reason. Last week my two kids were taking a long time to decide about something in the store, and I am getting a little annoyed, I tried hurrying them along. But on the way home , there was a terrible car accident right by our house ,that happened only minutes before we arrived. If not for kids taking so long, It could of been us!

Wow. I adore the picture a lot but I like the story even better! It is very strange but believable, that she did that.
I must say, I love the names you had for the hamsters. I had never heard of them. Well, My hamsters just died. I was sad. But what Chmurka did, I can't even explain. I would have been really sad.

Klara, again, I'm so sorry that, along with all her other talents, Chmurka was not immortal, too. I see her face at least once a day in an icon I made of her (the chubby photo on the blue background, to encourage weight loss!) and every time I see it, I think of you and her and sigh. What a wonderful hamster she was.
